She might be (is probably?) a rifter who hit the ground running. After her arrival in Riftwatch, she could immediately be sighted in the library, surrounded at all times by at least three books and one ever-growing sheaf of paper for her own notes. Her addresses on crystal have been a bit long-winded, but genuine and with Riftwatch-relevant purpose. As Quartermaster, she's in charge of getting people what they need and managing rooming assignments. It's early days to say what her reputation may be, or what could be public knowledge beyond that.

• Ness is very interested in the history of Thedas in general, and the thoughts and opinions of its common folk in specific. She would happily sit with a native and hear their life story, so long as they didn't mind her taking notes while they talked. Her ultimate goal is complete assimilation, so she wants to be able to hold opinions that make sense for whoever she ends up purporting to be.
• Prior to waking up in Thedas, she was abducted by mindflayers, and though she ended up avoiding a tadpole, her contact with the parasite's brine gave her magic she hasn't yet been entirely able to control—magic that can look remarkably like blood magic, if one doesn't know better.
• Spend a lot of time in the library? So does Ness! Like a lot a lot. During her off hours, she can be found there more often than she can be found in her own room.
• Do you have requests for luxury or personal items that you need the Quartermaster's help acquiring? Maybe you're in charge of a project that needs to source some difficult-to-acquire fungus. Ness is here to help!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

on first meeting, ness may give the impression of someone attempting not to be noticed. she has a deliberately unassuming bearing and a tendency to cling to the edges of a room. her voice is high, with the range of a soprano, though she doesn't sing. she rarely raises her voice, except when particularly bothered, at which point she can lose track of both her volume and her reason and turn into madeline kahn. she bathes enough not to be particularly offensive in any manner, but only employs a faint rosewater scent for perfume.

FADE RIFT TELEPATHY

ness is a telepath who has to "switch on" her telepathy, so to speak—it isn't constantly running, so she won't be reading anyone's mind just by being in the same room as them. she may, though, choose to read and speak into someone's mind if she trusts them, if it benefits her in some major way to do so, or if she's afraid of not knowing what they're up to. given that in the setting only blood mages can do magic that affects the mind like that, ness is not likely to use her telepathy unless she feels absolutely safe with the person she's using it on, or she sees absolutely no other way to avoid an extremely negative outcome.

that being said, i completely understand that some people may not want her in their characters' heads at all! my default assumption will be that anyone who does not opt in to this power does not want their character's mind read, in order to avoid potentially causing any issues. if you don't mind ness using her telepathy on your character, please fill out the below form and leave a comment with the responses for each character that you're opting in for.
